James Bennett has been playing piano for 11 years and currently is a student of Dr. Marjorie Lee. He is currently a senior at James Madison HS in Vienna,VA where he plays violin and piano in the Chamber Orchestra. James has won first place in many events such as Gottlieb, YMIC , MSMTA piano solo, WMTA Hartman, NVMTA Achievement Competition, NVMTA Ensemble Competition, second place in NVMTA Concerto Competition, and entered the finals of the Novik , Kosciuszko Foundation Chopin Competition for Young Pianists , and International Young Artists Piano Competition. James was chosen to play in the Young Artists Musicale at the Center of Performing Arts at George Mason University. James not only plays piano at competitions, but has also performed at nursing homes, his church, and at the Polish Embassy. He gave his first concert at age 12 at the Kosciuszko Foundation followed by a concert at the Polish American Art Association. He was honored to have a recital in Poland. He participated in the International Music Course in Opole, Poland and studied under Professor A. Jasinski and Dr. Ewa Sokolowska. He also had workshops with Professor Frazer and Dr. Jessica Osborn. In addition to performing, James also composes and improvises his own music.
