Katherine Song is a 9th grader at Winston Churchill High School in Potomac, Maryland. She began studying the violin at the age of 5, and studied under the tutelage of Ms. Olga Khroulevitch and currently with Ms. Holly Hamilton. She has participated in various competitions and has won numerous prizes and awards, including at the Joseph and Goldie Feder Memorial String Competition, Concert Artists International Maestro Competition, and YMIC International Competition, among others. Notably, she was awarded 1st prizes in the 2019 Washington National Youth Music Competition and the 2018 American Fine Arts Festival Competition in strings. As part of her prize she earned the distinct privilege of performing at the Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall in NYC. In 2021, she was awarded a second place in the 50th annual Joseph & Goldie Feder Memorial String Competition Intermediary Category, and was the winner of the National Philharmonic Solo Bach Competition, Junior Division. She had been playing in the All-State Junior Orchestra and the Maryland Classic Youth Symphony Orchestra as a Principal 2nd violinist. For the 2021-22, she plays as a Co-Concertmaster with the American Youth Symphonic Orchestra.
