Kenya Fluker is currently studying Woodwind performance under the tutelage of Soo-kyung Park, at New York University Steinhardt, in pursuit of her Bachelor’s of Woodwind Performance. She performs frequently with the New York University Orchestra, Band, and various chamber ensembles. In the wake of the pandemic, Kenya was granted an alternate winner spot for the National Flute association’s Blaisdell Scholarship. Along with this national achievement, Kenya has participated in masterclasses led by DeMarre Mcgill, Valerie Coleman, and Jeanne Baxtresser. Before moving to the big apple, Kenya studied under Monica Song, and actively participated in the Texas Music Educators All-state competition, winning an AREA spot all four years of high school. Outside of school, Kenya has played on many peers’ albums and has actively gigged around the DFW metroplex. When she isn’t playing Flute, she enjoys learning new languages such as Mandarin and American sign language, and she enjoys exploring new parts of the city.
