Aditi Subbaraman

My name is Aditi Subbaraman, and I am a 12-year-old girl who is incredibly enthusiastic about music. I began my musical journey by learning and singing classical Indian songs taught by my grandmother when I was just 4, which I continue to pursue. As I grew older, my passion for music deepened significantly. At 10, I started participating in the Princeton Girl Choir, which has been instrumental to my success and has taught me invaluable lessons about music. Thanks to this choir, I have been presented with many wonderful opportunities. I performed in a rendition of The Nutcracker in 2024 and am scheduled to sing several pieces alongside my choir at Carnegie Hall in the summer of 2025. I also take a more spiritual approach to music. My teacher, Ramya Shankar, has been teaching me Carnatic Indian music since I was 5, through an organization called Mukthi Music. I always look forward to these classes as they allow me to learn more about my religion and incorporate music into it. Not only do I attend choir and learn Indian classical music, but I also pursue music independently. Since I was 8, I have recorded covers of songs I enjoy and posted them on SoundCloud, typically with my dad accompanying me on guitar while I sing. In addition to singing, I also learn piano. I was a finalist in the Florida Keys International Competition, as well as performing at the awards function for NJMTA for two consecutive years. I also love attending concerts of my favorite artists. So far, I have been to concerts for Alec Benjamin and Benson Boone. I am passionate about music and can’t wait to continue learning more about it.
