Alvin Wang

Alvin Wang is a 17-year-old violist, violinist, and pianist from San Diego who is passionate about using music to inspire and uplift others. He began piano at age 5, violin at 7, and discovered his love for the viola at 12. A member of the San Diego Youth Symphony for five years, he most recently served as Principal Violist in the Symphony Orchestra. Alvin studies violin with Michael and Pasha Tseitlin, and piano with Christina Liu and Yulia Atoyan. He has received top prizes in the MTAC VOCE and Concerto Competitions, and earned scholarships from the Interlochen Arts Camp and the Southern California Viola Society. His performances have been recognized internationally, including at the Burgos International Music Festival, London Young Musician, Birmingham International Music Competition, and American Protégé. Committed to community service, Alvin helped raise over $15,000 for the UC San Diego Autism Center of Excellence and has performed in benefit concerts for Rady Children’s Hospital and the Super Joey Foundation. He was selected for the Heifetz Institute Summer Program.
