Benjamin Yang

Benjamin Yang is a ninth grader at University High School in Irvine. He was captivated by the deep and rich sound of the cello and started playing the instrument in fourth grade. Ever since the start of his musicianship, Benjamin has been a cello student under the guidance of Jenny Oh. He won first place at the Satori Summer Music Festival for three consecutive years – 2021, 2022, and 2023. He also teaches in an institution called Love in Music, where children from underprivileged families learn how to play instruments like the cello.

Alongside music, Benjamin is a competitive swimmer that loves everything about the water.

Watch Benjamin Yang perform Cello Concerto No.1 in A Minor by Camille Saint-Saëns on the cello for the 2025 Romantic Music Competition as part of the Charleston International Music Competition.
