
Venezuelan flutist, recording artist, and music educator. Ms Canas grew up in the celebrated music non-profit institution “El Sistema”, where she served as principal flutist in different symphony orchestras for about ten years. She earned her Bachelor in Flute Performance in Michigan, her Master in Flute Performance at the University of Cincinnati, her Artist Diploma in Flute Orchestral Studies at the Orchestra of Americas Academy, and currently, preparing for post-graduate studies. During the course of her career, she has won several competitions, premiered compositions, conducted, composed, collaborated in different recording projects, and performed as soloist in multiple occasions, while receiving instruction from world renown artists such as Marin Alsop, Jasmine Choi, Gareth Davies, Demarre McGill, Marina Piccinini, Tara O’Connor, among others.
Betania has been a Teaching Artist and Parent Communicator at MYCincinnati, an El Sistema inspired music program in Ohio that provides the underserved youth with access to free music education. She performs regularly with different orchestras in Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana, and appears frequently on social platforms where she has developed a fine community of more than thirty five thousand followers. Currently, she serves as a Teaching Artist in Kids Orchestra Louisiana and is a Artist Diploma candidate at the University of Cincinnati.
She strongly believes in the transformative power of the arts and advocates for accessible education to create a more just and prosperous future, one where every young person has the chance to thrive and contribute their talents to the world.
