
Bobby Yuan, 15, is currently in 10th grade attending Peak to Peak Charter School in Lafayette, Colorado. At age 6, he began taking piano lessons from his mother. Since May 2022, he has been studying piano with Dr. Jennifer Hayghe from the University of Colorado Boulder.
Bobby was the first-place winner of the Schmitt Music 2023 Piano Competition (Division II), the 2024 Colorado State MTA Piano Concerto Competition (Junior Division), and the 2025 Colorado State MTA Piano Concerto Competition (Senior Division), resulting in two concerto performances (Mozart KV.414 and Schumann Op.54) with the Boulder Chamber Orchestra. He was also awarded the first prize at the 2025 Colorado State Rising Stars Festival and was named the Alternate (or 2nd place) Winners of the Colorado State MTNA 2025-Senior and 2024-Junior Performance Piano Competition.
Bobby also attended Summer Music Academy in University of Colorado Boulder and New Orleans Piano Institute, where he participated in master classes and perform piano duo and concerto. He is especially inspired by the works of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Schumann, and finds joy in sharing the gift of music both in performance and through community service. Bobby has volunteered by performing piano at Gulf Coast Village in Florida and at UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital, bringing comfort and joy to people through music.
Beyond piano, Bobby also likes to play violin, and join orchestras which helps him to develop musicianship by cooperating with others to create music. Bobby has been selected to play violin at the Colorado All State Symphony Orchestra in 2026.
