Chaitra Dontineni

I have been playing the piano since I was four years old and it has always been a major part of my life. However, I took a break in fourth grade due to conflicts in my schedule and anxiety issues I was facing. I was able to overcome these obstacles and significantly improve my mental health over the next couple of years, which enabled me to pick up where I left off. When I was in seventh grade, I started playing the piano again during Covid where I attended virtual classes. It felt as if I was reliving my early childhood years with both new and familiar aspects. I was able to quickly learn again and build up my piano skills so that I could compete in competitions and learn new musical pieces. I am currently a Grade 2 ABRSM certified player and I received 2nd place at the Crescendo International Music Competition at Carnegie Hall last May. Overall, my piano journey was filled with ups and downs shaping the player I am today.
