Elijah Hing-Fung Tshing, a 16 year old cellist, is a rising junior at California School of the Arts – SGV (CSArts-SGV) in the Popular Music and Instrumental Music conservatories where he acts as the principal cellist in the CSArts Pits Orchestra for Gala and Season Finale.
Elijah has been playing the cello since 8 years old and is currently studying under Dr. Elizabeth Su while serving as the principal cellist of the Pasadena Summer Youth Chamber Orchestra and Olympia Youth Orchestra. Additionally, he served as the principal cellist for the CSArts-SGV’s Symphonia, Philharmonic and Pits Orchestra for All School Musical. He has participated in masterclasses with Brent Samuel (L.A Philharmonic) and Yoshika Masuda (Chapmen University).
Elijah was the 1st place winner of the International Association of Professional Music Teachers Autumn Grand Concours Finals (2024) and was invited to preform at the Carnage Hall and Europe Concert Tour.
Some memorable performances Elijah has done includes the chamber performance at the Enchanted: Forest of Light in Descanso Gardens, CS-Arts’ Season Finale, Gala, All School Musical, and Carmina Burana, Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra – String Orchestra, and Claremont Young Musicians Orchestra.
