My name is Eric Gu. I am a rising senior from Brentwood School in Los Angeles, California. I’ve played the flute for eight years. I am the principal flute and winds section leader of the Brentwood School Orchestra. I have also played flute in multiple honors bands and orchestras. Notably, I have played principal flute in the All-Southern California Wind Ensemble 2023, All-Southern California Symphony Orchestra 2024, December CODA Symphony Orchestra 2024, and California All-State Wind Symphony 2025.
I have won first place in the Omega Psi Phi – Omicron Mu Chapter Talent Hunt and received an all-inclusive trip to perform in Alaska; second place in the Omega Psi Phi – 12th District Talent Hunt; and collected over $2000 in scholarships for music. In 2024, I was a Panel Finalist with State Convention honors in the Music Teachers’ Association of California Certificate of Merit.
