Evan Chang

Evan Chang is a sophomore who began studying piano at the age of five. Under the long-term guidance of his piano teacher, Claudia Xi Yu. Growing up in Temecula, near Southern California’s Wine Country.

Evan has participated in various piano competitions, where he has gained valuable experience by listening to and learning from many talented young pianists. Over the years, he has received several awards, including first-place recognition at the 2008 MTAC Theme Festival, the 2009 SYMF, the 2020 Kathryn Gawatin Chopin Competition, and the 2024 Southern California Regional Solo Piano Competition. He also earned second place at the 2024 MTAC State Solo Piano Competition.

Beyond music, Evan enjoys a wide range of interests, including soccer, FRC Robotic Team, and reading. He plays as a left forward on his high school soccer team. As a freshman, he received the Golden Boots Award from his school. In his free time, Evan enjoys spending time with his beloved Pomeranian, Banjo.
