Guanhua Yang

My name is Guanhua Yang. I started playing the violin when I was 10 years old, but at that time I didn’t fully appreciate music. In my sophomore year, I became very busy with schoolwork and other responsibilities, so I could no longer practice every day as I used to. Eventually, I stopped taking lessons with my private teacher.

However, after I stopped learning with my teacher, I began to miss the violin and realized that it had been an important part of my life. Since then, I have continued playing on my own from time to time. Playing the violin helps me relax from my rigorous studies, and I also enjoy sharing music with my friends and classmates on Instagram.

After graduating from high school, I hope to seriously pick up the violin again and use music to connect with people around me. I learned this piece mostly by myself after my violin teacher stopped teaching me.

Watch Guanhua Yang perform Concerto No. 3 in G Minor Op. 12 1st Movement by Friedrich Seitz on the violin for the 2026 Classical Music Competition as part of the Charleston International Music Competition.
