Jiho Kim is a bright and imaginative six-year-old who began studying piano one year and eight months ago with teacher Yi-Fang Wu at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM). Now in his second year at the SFCM Pre-College Division, Jiho finds music to be one of his favorite forms of expression. After school, he often dashes to the piano to explore melodies he’s heard or invent tunes of his own. He delights in learning new pieces and discovering the many playful possibilities music offers.
Jiho is currently a kindergartener at The Nueva School in California, U.S.A. When he’s not at the piano, he loves building creative inventions out of recycled materials and LEGO—like a binocular that doubles as a compass. He also enjoys playing tag with friends, solving math
puzzles, and dreaming up new ideas wherever he goes.
Watch Jiho Kim perform Piano Sonata in C Major, Hob. XVI:1 I. Allegro by Joseph Haydn on the piano for the 2025 Summer Music Competition as part of the Charleston International Music Competition.
