Kevin Lew, born in California, started his cello journey when he was nine. First introduced to music theory through piano at the age of five, Kevin later studied under Juilliard graduate Lila Yang. By joining the Prelude Orchestra in 2022, Kevin experienced a new perspective of orchestral music. As a participant of Junior Chamber Music, Kevin won third prize in a chamber competition in 2024. That summer, he shared his love for music with many young children by teaching at MakerSpace Project Think at Harvey Mudd College. Later, he joined the Portola High Philharmonic Orchestra and played a variety of both chamber and orchestral pieces with other performers in Irvine, California. He continues to perform and grow through competitions, winning first prize in many of them. He has performed at Carnegie Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, and the Nixon Library. Kevin now excels in playing solo, chamber, and orchestral pieces.
