Lilia Hui, a talented young pianist from San Jose, California, is a fourth grader at Merryhill Elementary School. She began studying piano at the age of five and, currently a student of Ms. Meiyu Wu. With her remarkable dedication and natural musicality, Lilia has already achieved impressive milestones at a young age. She has successfully completed the ABRSM Grade 8 Piano Examination with Distinction, earning an exceptional score of 148—a remarkable accomplishment that reflects her strong discipline, and musical sensitivity.
Lilia’s love for performing shines through in every opportunity she gets to share her music. She frequently performs at school events, recitals, and piano competitions, where her expressive playing and confident stage presence captivate audiences. In 2025, she participated in the prestigious U.S. Open Music Competition, where she won First Place in the Treasury of Classical and Romantic Composer (Intermediate) category and was also honored with the title of Outstanding Gold Medalist. Lilia also won first place in the Golden Classical Music Competition. In addition, she earned First Place in the American Protégé International Piano Competition, a distinguished event that recognizes excellence among young musicians from around the world. These achievements not only demonstrate her musical talent but also her enthusiasm for sharing her artistry with others.
Beyond her musical pursuits, Lilia is an adventurous and curious young girl who loves to explore the world. Traveling with her family has given her the chance to experience the beauty and diversity of different cultures and places. Some of her most cherished memories include cuddling a koala in Australia, swimming with dolphins, watching the charming parade of tiny penguins returning home at dusk, and feeding giraffes up close. These experiences have enriched her outlook on life, nurtured her joyful spirit, and contributed to her warm and amiable personality.
With her exceptional talent, hard work, and love for both music and the world around her, Lilia continues to grow as a young pianist.
