My journey in music began not with the clarinet, but with piano. At age 4, I expressed interest in playing the piano, and funnily enough, 10 years later, I can’t quite remember why. In any case, my parents introduced me to piano lessons, and I enjoyed them thoroughly. Over the nearly 8 years I played piano, I played a vast repertoire of piano pieces, especially enjoying the more lyrical, melodic ones. A couple years back, I decided that piano wasn’t my passion, so I eventually quit. However, my experience with piano allowed me to pick up the clarinet fairly quickly after selecting it, originally, as an instrument to play for my school’s band. After some time, I started to practice classical pieces on clarinet and even enter competitions starting in middle school; the only one I’ve done before this is a Nevada state competition. Clarinet is something that I truly enjoy; I love the sound and richness of the instrument, especially when played by an expert. I strive to achieve that level of mastery someday in the future, but for now, I hope you will enjoy my rendition of Franz Krommer’s Clarinet Concerto No.1, Op.36. Thank you!
