
Nicholas Wang,16, is a rising 11th grader from BASIS Independent Silicon Valley. He embarked on his music journey at the age of 5, when he first sat down at a piano keyboard and discovered his love for music. At age 11, he expanded his talents by taking up the cello. Under the expert guidance of Dr. Zhao Zhao Yang, he grew more passionate about music. Nicholas enjoys performing, whether for recital or for competition, as soloist or as an accompanist. He achieved CM Level 10 at the age of 11 and has won multiple awards at the United States Open Music Competition (USOMC), 2nd place at the American Protégé International Competition of Romantic Music in 2024. Most recently, in 2025, he won 2nd place at Charleston International winter music competition. Beyond his musical accomplishments, Nicholas is passionate about programming, and he won several prizes in various hackathon competitions. One of his most cherished projects is “MusiqueWorld: Every Camera is a Musician”, a testament to his ability to merge his two passions-music and coding into one app.
