
Olivia Tu is a 16-year old attending Lynbrook High School in San Jose, California. She has been playing piano since the age of six and is currently studying under Professor Hans Boepple. She has received top prizes in state and international piano competitions, including 2023 Chicago International Music Competition, North Texas Young Artists, WPTA Finland, 2024 Bellagrande International Music Competition First Prize, 2024 MTAC Solo Competition State Winner, Enkor Music Competition, MTNA California State Senior Division Alternate, Great Composers Music of the 19th Century First Prize, Bradshaw and Buono, and was a Ross Mckee Laureate. She has received masterclasses from Steven Spooner, Gabor Farkas, Armen Babakhanian, Arthur Greene, Robert Shannon, Boris Slutsky, Yoshikazu Nagai, Aviram Reichart, Jan Jiracek von Arnim, and HieYon Choi. She has attended Boston University’s Tanglewood Institute Piano Program, PianoTexas, and Indiana University Piano Academy in the past.
In addition, she plays violin in the California Youth Symphony Senior Orchestra and school Chamber Orchestra, and has attended California All-State orchestra in 2024. Outside of music, she enjoys neuroscience, reading, writing in her school newspaper, and volunteering in her community.
