Rhys Astel Altea-O'Loghlen

Rhys is a classically trained pianist whose talent and dedication to the art of music has already taken him to musical excellence and one of the most prestigious stages in the world.

Even as a toddler, Rhys had a remarkable ear for melodies on the piano. He began formal piano lessons at age seven and has since excelled, participating in three NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) examinations with top scores at every level, gaining “outstanding” and A+ up to the highest level–6. Already an accomplished performer, Rhys has won several international competitions and graced the stage of Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall three times with solo performances. In addition, he is one of two lead pianists in his school’s symphony orchestra and frequently plays solos at their performances. Currently, Rhys is preparing for level 8 for the globally renowned ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) and is also expanding his musical horizons by learning the violin. Known for his expressive piano playing and skillful technique, Rhys brings a unique blend of precision and deep emotion to every performance. Whether navigating the colorful phrases of Chopin or enduring the contrasting and bold pieces by Beethoven or Bach, his playing stands out as mature beyond his years.
