Sayyod Mirzomurodov

Sayyod Mirzomurodov is a clarinetist, educator, and performing artist originally from Uzbekistan and currently based in the United States. He is a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) candidate in Clarinet Performance at the University of Iowa, where he also serves as a Teaching Assistant. He holds a Master’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa and a Bachelor’s degree from the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan.
With a strong foundation in both Western classical and Central Asian musical traditions, Sayyod has performed internationally as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player. He is particularly recognized for his interpretations of contemporary music and has premiered numerous works written specifically for him by composers from Uzbekistan and beyond. His most recent DMA recital featured several world premieres and celebrated cross-cultural musical dialogue.
Sayyod is also passionate about music education. He currently teaches clarinet and chamber music at Augustana College, where he inspires students to develop their individual voices as musicians. He has served as an adjudicator for solo and ensemble competitions and enjoys mentoring young musicians on their artistic and professional journeys. Beyond the stage and classroom, Sayyod is committed to expanding the clarinet repertoire through collaborations with composers and interdisciplinary projects. He is currently preparing a debut CD project featuring contemporary Uzbek works for clarinet, several of which he premiered.
