
Sejin started playing the cello at the age of 9 with encouragement from his mother, a classical music composer and he was immediatley captivated by its warm, rich sound. At the age of 11, he performed Luigi Boccherini’s Cello Concerto as a soloist during his two years as a member of the Seongnam Youth Symphony Orchestra in South Korea.
After coming to the US with his family, he recently won the 1st prize in the 2025 US International Open Music Competition under the guidance of Jonathan Koh, his cello teacher. As well as being a member of California Youth Symphony, he also participates in the Valley Christian Middle School String Ensemble and Cal Music Prep. Alongside playing the cello, he enjoys creating robots, coding, reading a book in a hammock and golfing with his family.
