Seungyeon Kang began her violin journey in May 2024, shortly after moving to the United States in the 3rd grade. Her initial motivation was simply to prepare for her 4th-grade school music class, but under the inspiring guidance of Dr. Ji Yeon Shin, she quickly fell in love with the instrument. For Seungyeon, the violin became her best friend in a new country, and Dr. Shin served as a guiding light through the challenges of adapting to a new environment.
Her dedication led to rapid growth and impressive achievements. In August 2025, she joined the California Youth Orchestra Southern California (CYOSC) as a second violinist. Her progress continued as she was selected as a first violinist for the 2026 SCSBOA All-Southern California Honor Orchestra and a member of the IUSD Elementary Honor Orchestra. Through the violin, Seungyeon has learned the value of perseverance—overcoming obstacles through practice, and building the resilience to rise again after setbacks. She aspires to share the beauty of music with others and demonstrate that one can surpass their limits through passion and hard work.
Watch Seungyeon Kang perform Concerto in A Minor, Op. 3, No.6, 1st Mvt by A. Vivaldi on the violin for the 2026 Spring Music Competition as part of the Charleston International Music Competition.
