
Tianyu Xue is a distinguished trombonist and educator, known for his dynamic performances and innovative teaching. He earned his Doctor of Musical Arts in Trombone Performance from Louisiana State University, a Master of Music from Boston University, and a Bachelor of Music from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.
Tianyu has taught at LSU as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, providing trombone instruction, leading studio classes, and conducting the trombone choir. He currently teaches trombone and music theory at multiple schools, nurturing students from elementary to high school.
As a performer, Tianyu is Second Trombone with the Monroe Symphony Orchestra and a substitute with the Baton Rouge Symphony, Acadiana Symphony, and Louisiana Opera. Internationally, he has played with the Qingdao Song & Dance Theatre and Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra.
An accomplished arranger, his collection “A Collection of Chinese Folk Melodies” promotes traditional Chinese music. His doctoral dissertation reflects his commitment to cultural diversity in music.
