It all started with a single note—and I was hooked.
My name is Vihana Mehta. I’m a 12-year-old seventh grader who picked up the flute in fourth grade and never looked back. Since then, I’ve joined my school’s jazz band and wind ensemble, diving into every opportunity to perform, collaborate, and grow as a musician.
This year, I’m auditioning for GPYO, CJMEA, and YOCJ, excited to take my passion to the next level. Playing the flute makes me genuinely happy—it’s my creative outlet, my confidence booster, and something I hope to keep as a lifelong hobby.
Music has opened doors, sparked friendships, and taught me discipline and joy. I’m just getting started—and I can’t wait to see where the music takes me next.
Watch Vihana Mehta perform Siciliana and Giga from Sonata V by George Frideric Handel on the flute for the 2025 Global Music Competition as part of the Charleston International Music Competition.
