William Xuan was born in December, 2007 in Boston, Massachusetts. He has been drawn to classical music and started playing piano since the age of 3. William studies with Natalia Harlap, Dmitri Shteinberg, and Pavel Nersessian. Other teachers included Eleanor Carlson, Dorothy Shi, Constantine Finehouse, and Angel Ramón Rivera. William has been inspired by Chopin’s works, which depict his unique life experiences of endless transitions throughout his career. He found Chopin’s music encompassing a vivid and transient space, both internal and external, with emotion, drama, and sensation. William has been playing Chopin’s pieces since he was very young and continues to study his works today. William played Nocturne Op.27 No.1 at Carnegie Hall in the 2022 Crescendo Piano Competition. In addition, William has won various distinctions, including the 1st prize in the 2023 Ruth Davidson Competition sponsored by the New England Piano Teachers Association. He plays piano for those living at local orphanages and senior centers. He organized and played his first solo piano concert in his school. He is committed to lifelong learning, performing and sharing music to support humanity.
