Yinan Yuan, 13, an 8th grader at Harvest Park Middle School, has been playing piano since the age of 8. In 2024, as a seventh grader, Yinan took second place at the United States Open Music Competition, and has been a Grade 8 ABRSM player since 6th grade. Along with piano, Yinan is also principal trumpeter in Harvest Park’s Wind Ensemble and lead trumpet in Harvest Park’s Jazz Band. He was a trumpeter in the 2024 NCBA All-Northern Honor Band, and also a trumpeter for the 2025 CBDA Honor Band. This year, his school took 1st place at the Campana Jazz Festival, an award that they have won consecutively for the past 7 years. Yinan enjoys the trumpet because of the competitive nature of auditions, and the immense joy and pride in seeing your name on one of the best bands in California.
