
Yingqi Wang is a pianist and educator currently completing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Glenn Korff School of Music under Dr. Paul Barnes. Her doctoral document explores “The Integration of Western Compositional Techniques and Traditional Chinese Folk Music in Piano Works of Jianzhong Wang,” reflecting her expertise in cross-cultural musical synthesis.
Yingqi earned her Master of Music in Piano Performance from Syracuse University’s Setnor School of Music, where she studied with Prof. Steven Heyman and Dr. Fred Karpoff. As a performer, she has presented numerous solo recitals, chamber recitals, and her acclaimed lecture recital “East Meets West: Fusion in Jianzhong Wang’s Piano Works.” Her performance experience extends internationally, including participation in the Summer Piano Institute in Xanthi, Greece, and collaborations spanning classical and contemporary repertoire.
A versatile accompanist, Yingqi has extensive experience accompanying choirs, musicals, and Broadway shows, including recent work on “Beauty and the Beast: The Broadway Musical” and various show choir productions. She reached the final round of the UNL Graduate Solo Concerto Competition, performing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3, and has served as a full-time piano accompanist for Lincoln Public Schools.
Currently based in Boston, Yingqi teaches piano lessons at public and private schools as well as non-profit organizations. She is an active member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). Her achievements include recognition and prizes from the Beijing International Mozart Piano Competition. Her expertise encompasses piano performance, pedagogy, chamber music, and music theory.
