Youran Zhai

I was born into a musically gifted family. My father is the Assistant Principal Double Bass of the China Philharmonic Orchestra. My grandfather was the Principal Cello of the Zhengzhou Song and Dance Theater, Henan Province. I showed strong interest and passion in music and drama when I was young. I started learning piano when I was five years old, playing cello at the age of seven and double bass at eleven with my father.
I love to do charity works and proudly became a member of the Chinese Children’s Charity Rescue Foundation. I was also involved into its performing art and performed several
shows for charity fundraising.
In 2023, I became an international student at Benowa State School. I am trying my best to learn English and adapt to the unfamiliar environment and meanwhile I enjoy being a valuable cello player of Benowa Senior String Ensemble.
Currently I play grade 7/8 level on cello and have weekly lessons with Mrs. Belinda Manwaring.
