Able Zhukovski

Able Zhukovski, pianist and piano teacher with over 25 years teaching experience. She is the Founder and Principal of Able Music Studio New Zealand (the largest Music Academy in New Zealand with 7 branches), Principal of Auckland Music Academy NZ, Distinguished Professor of Shengda University China, Art Director of Kaimin Education Group HongKong, Founder and Executive Vice President of New Zealand Asia Pacific Musicians Association, Committee member of the Institute of Registered Music Teachers of New Zealand, Registered Piano and Music Theory Teacher New Zealand, ABRSM Registered Piano and Music Theory Teacher UK.

Able began piano study at the age of 6 and received her Associate Performance Diplomas from the Trinity College London UK at an early age, and her B.Mus from Xinghai Conservatory of Music China. She did further study with Mikhail Tablis and Terence Dennis, and received her Masters degree of Piano Performance from the University of Otago New Zealand. She has won many awards in national and international competitions, and her piano performances have been broadcast live on Radio NZ. She had been interviewed by several TV stations in New Zealand, including a half-hour personal interview for Outstanding Music Educator in Auckland on WTV.

As a piano teacher, her teaching has produced many outstanding young pianists, including prizewinners in the British (Oxford) International Open Piano Competition, the Grand Prize Virtuoso Competition Germany, the Concorso Internazionale Valsesia Musica Italy, and the Charleston International Music Competition USA, et al. Her students have won all of the major piano competitions in New Zealand, including the Wallace National Piano Competition NZ, Wallace National Junior Piano Competition NZ, Ronisch Piano Competition NZ, et al. As a result of competition success, her students have been invited to perform in the Sydney Opera House Australia and Beethoven House Bonn Germany.

Able has facilitated the learning of more than 100 students to successfully attain Diploma qualifications from the Internationally Recognized Examination boards eg: ABRSM or Trinity College, with a large percentage of them achieving Distinction grades. A few of her students have received exam scores of 148, 147 and 146 (out of 150) in ABRSM Piano Grade 8 Exams. Many of her examination candidates have received high distinction several times and have been invited to perform in the concerts that recognize the top examination candidates.

Able has also assisted many students to successfully enter the piano/music departments of major universities and conservatories, such as the Eastman School of Music, the Peabody School of Music, the Manhattan School of Music, Boston Conservatory of Music in the United States, Sydney Conservatorium of Music in Australia, the Royal Conservatory of Music, New England Conservatory of Music et al. In addition, many students have received offers of scholarships.

She has written and published over 30 teaching resources in Piano, Aural, Music Theory and other fields of music, and has trained a large number of excellent piano, music theory and solfeggio/aural teachers. Some of her books have been registered in the New Zealand National Library collection.

As the Executive Vice President of the New Zealand Asia Pacific Musicians Association, she has been coordinating the annual Auckland Music Festival and Music Competitions for the past six years. This is a major youth music cultural event in Auckland.

Able was invited to the adjudicate a number of national and international competitions, eg: the 10th International Children and Youth Art Festival 2020, 2019 Famous Children Talent Show, 2018 International Children Model & Talent Contest, The 6th International Children and Youth Art Festival 2016, 2015 New Zealand Idol et al.

Able Music Studio and Auckland Music Academy hosts a large number of Classical Music Concerts, Pop and Rock Music Concerts, Internal student concerts, piano competitions, and international music exchange activities. As the only academic co-organizer, beside co-organized for the world acclaimed pianist Lang Lang’s concert in Auckland, Able is also responsible for the major preparations for 2016 New Zealand Youth Piano Competition in Auckland, including writing the competition rules, promoting the competition and communicating with the adjudicators. She also has co-organized two concerts each for the international pianist Richard Clayderman and Yundi Li in New Zealand.
