Aidan Chien is currently a freshman at Northwood High School in Irvine, CA. He has been studying cello since age 10 with Da Yoon Kang. He has been accepted to numerous honor ensembles such as the Irvine Unified School District Honor Orchestra, and the SCSBOA All-Southern Honor Orchestra (Principal Cellist in 2022).
Aidan has won awards in various competitions including the 1st place in the Charleston Baroque Music Competition and Golden Classical Music Awards. He was also the prize winner in the Charleston Spring Music Competition, Great Composers Competition – Best Bach Performance, American Protégé Piano and Strings Competition, North American Virtuoso Internation Music Competition, as well as the Satori Festival String Contest. He has passed the Certificate of Merit (CM) Advanced Level with State Honors. He has performed at prestigious venues such as the Carnegie Hall (Weill Recital Hall) and the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall. He will make his solo debut at the Disney Concert Hall (BP Hall) this summer.
Currently, he is a member of the Northwood High School Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orange County Youth Symphony (OCYS). Besides playing cello, Aidan enjoys running his YouTube channel, traveling with his family, eating good food, and playing video games.
