Alessandra Barefoot attends Dreyfoos High School of the Arts and has been playing piano for 10 years. She first got into playing classical music from hearing her dad play classical guitar. She then first studied with Rena Kerimovia, then Adam Aleksander, and then Dr. Estibaliz Gastesi. She currently studies with Ruo Balko but also receives occasional lessons from Micheal Ruiz. Alessandra has been accepted to auditions in both her middle school and highschool (Bak and Dreyfoos piano major) and has been accepted to FSU piano camp and the Miami International Piano Festival Academy. She also placed first in the Opus state competition, second in the Miami Youth Symphony, and first in the Young Artists’ State Piano Competition. Besides piano, Alessandra also demonstrates interest in STEM, art, and sports. She is in SECME and recently came first place in the bridge building competition and she recently won an academic scholarship (the Kovner Scholarship). When not running through scales, Alessandra is running on her school varsity track team or playing tennis. During her free time, she loves to paint and sketch.
