Alexa is a 6th grader at Tessellations School in Cupertino, California. She began piano studies with Elena Akopova in 2018 and has been studying piano with Dr. Chia-Lin Yang since 2023. Alexa is also a cello student in Kevin Yu’s studio, and this Fall 2024, she will join the Galbraith Honors Strings of the Golden State Youth Orchestra. She enjoys musical genres ranging from Chopin to Olivia Rodrigo to Dua Lipa.
At Tessellations School, under the direction of Sarah Naylor, Alexa performs in niche music ensembles on cello, keyboard, ukulele, drums and voice. At the 2024 Spring Protest Concert, the final performance was an arrangement of “Stand Up (from Harriet),” a call to arms for activism. Alexa sang “Stand Up” as a soloist and also played cello accompaniment.
In addition to music, Alexa is active in the Tessellations Drama Program and has played the role of Violet Beauregarde in “Willy Wonka” and Snow White in “Snow White and the Seven Endings.” She stays active playing tennis, bridge, poker, mahjong and enjoys camping and traveling the world. She is a master of procrastination, avoiding homework by dabbling on an electric blue 3D printed violin, her mom’s Loree oboe or her dad’s bass guitar. You can often find Alexa snuggled in her reading nook, listening to music while reading the latest murder mystery.
