Alexa Rosales

Born and raised in California, Alexa Rosales, age 14, has been studying piano for over 3 years. Alexa is a proud student of Ms. Jesica Yap. She started playing piano when she was 10 years-old. Alexa is currently in 8th grade and goes to La Mesa Jr High School. Alexa loves music and is humbled to be able to have the opportunity to learn and play piano with the limited resources available to her.

Alexa has performed in six piano recitals held by her teacher, Ms. Yap. She has also had the honor to be selected to perform playing piano in front of her whole sixth grade class, parents and faculty at her 6th Grade Graduation in 2022.

Recently, Alexa performed in a Grade 2 RSL Exam and passed with Distinction (grade 1 and grade 2), the highest achievable level. RSL is a global, specialist awarding body that brings together the leading names in Classical and Contemporary Arts. She is currently preparing for her next recital in Dec 2023.

Alexa is dedicated to excelling in her craft to the best of her ability. She practices piano at least 30 minutes a day. Alexa loves playing all genres of music, especially classical music.

Besides playing piano, Alexa loves to sing, read, draw and craft, and play sports.
In her first semester of middle school, Alexa chose choir as her elective. She has performed at two concerts with that class, one at her own school and the high school she will go to in the future. She also loves watching and listening to musicals. Some of her favorites include Miss Saigon, Hamilton, Les Miserables, and Phantom of the Opera.

In addition, Alexa is a scholar, earning straight A’s in all of her classes at La Mesa Junior High School. She recently was awarded the Principal’s Honor Roll and received a “Student of the Month” Award for her hard work during the Fall Semester in 2022. She likes to participate in school activities and was recently selected to be a representative for Associated Student Body (ASB) at her Junior High School, which is a student body organization, dedicated to engaging and creating fun, positive activities for students, while encouraging leadership, responsibility, respect and inclusion for all.

Alexa has a wonderful, and supportive family that she loves and cares for, which includes her mom, dad, and two younger brothers, Ben and Duke. She strives to be the best mentor she can to her brothers, who are also proud students of Ms. Jesica, and her brother, Ben, has also been recognized for his outstanding piano achievements, as well.
