
Alexander Hutchinson is thirteen years old. He is home schooled at Sealight Education Academy, and is in the ninth grade. His favorite school activities are Science and Math. Outside of school activities, he likes to sing and read. Alex competes on a Trampoline and Tumbling Gymnastics team and holds both State and Regional titles. Alex began studying piano in 2015. In 2019, he competed and performed as a finalist in the Weymouth Woods Young Musicians’ Festival. In 2019, he performed solo pieces as well as a concerto with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra in St. Petersburg Russia as part of Russia’s Piano in Palace Music Festival. In 2020, he attended and played in the Costa Rico Piano Festival, held online due to COVID restrictions on international travel.
In 2023, he performed solo repertoire for the Palmetto International Piano Festival, and in both 2022 and 2023 he attended and played solo repertoire in the UNC Greensboro Summer Arts program as a piano major. For the past two years he has entered and received the Highest Honors designation at the state level of the National Music Teacher’s Association at the Senior A level. Alex currently is the full time musician for Calvary Baptist Church in Hamlet, North Carolina.
