Alexander Xie is a sophomore who currently attends the Quarry Lane School in Dublin. He began learning piano at the age of 4. He entered the competition scene at the age of 8, winning numerous competitions and most notably performing at Carnegie hall after winning the Grand Prix prize in the New York international festival along with a $1500 scholarship. Alex has also won numerous other competitions such as the Silicon Valley Music Competition and the Carmel Klavier Music Competition. Alex currently studies under Dr Dante DiIanni.
Aside from playing piano, Alexander is also an avid percussion player. He began learning percussion at the age of 7. In 2021, Alexander won the second place prize in the Percussive Arts Society middle school solo category. He is currently a senior member of the pre-university percussion group under Professor Galen Lemmon, which performs every Christmas to raise money for the parents helping parents charity organization.
In his spare time, Alex likes to read books, listen to music and take on robotics projects.
