Alice Zhang is a piano student of Richard Tostenson in the ninth grade at Wayzata High School. She was a winner of the 2024 MacPhail Concerto and Aria Competition and First Prize winner of the 2024 Spring Charleston International Music Competition. A finalist for the 2023 Saint Paul Piano Teachers Concerto Competition and the 2025 Minnesota Music Teachers Association Piano Contest. Alice performed in multiple MacPhail Honors Recitals and the Suzuki Chicago Institute Summer Camp, where she played in the top recital. Alice was a 2024 Gary Sipes MacPhail Scholarship and Minnesota Music Teachers Association high distinction recipient for performance and theory. She attended masterclasses led by Susan Billmeyer, Paul Wirth, and Tadeusz Majewski. Alice is also a violinist in the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphony’s Concert Orchestra, performed in the Suzuki Association of Minnesota’s Graduation recital, and as a member of the Strolling Strings.
