At the age of fourteen, clarinetist Angela Shen won the National MTNA Junior Performance Competition. Currently, she is a ninth grader at Montgomery Blair High School. Angela has been awarded first place in numerous competitions, including the Wurlitzer Jugend Online KlarinettenSpiel (2020), YMIC Metropolitan Music Festival (2020), YMIC International Competition and Grand Prize (2019), YMIC Washington National Youth Music Competition (2019), as well as the NVMTA Achievement Awards (2016) and NVMTA Concerto Competition (2019 & 2017). She made her Carnegie Hall debut as a soloist in 2019. While active as a member of the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras since the sixth grade, Angela, a student of Dr. Albert Hunt, has also been involved with the Maryland Junior State Band (2nd chair) and the MCPS Honors Band (1st chair). She is a proficient golfer and enjoys folding origami.
