Anh Phan Thuy Nguyen

Anh Nguyen is pursuing DMA studies in Piano Performance at George Mason University with the Graduate Lecturer position under the tutelage of Dr. Linda Monson. Since she started studying the piano at age five, Anh Nguyen has continuously achieved academic success with scholarships, assistantships, and teaching position awards throughout her study path. Her current research and performance projects are on the music of Vietnamese composer Cuong Hoang.

Anh Nguyen has presented several piano recitals and performances in Vietnam and the United States and offered several research papers at international conferences. Her research projects have been presented at international conferences, such as the 17th Asia Pacific Society of Ethnomusicology (APSE) in Thailand and the Global Art Festival at Ohio University. Anh Nguyen’s performances have been broadcast on Ho Chi Minh City Television in Vietnam, GMU’s and Neo Academy’s YouTube and social media platforms.

Most recently, Anh Nguyen performed as a solo pianist in the GMU Grand Piano Celebration 2021, 2022, 2023, and Honor Recital 2023 and is one of the GMU Concerto Competition 2021 finalists. In 2022, Anh Nguyen collaborated with violinist Leonid Sushansky to perform Grammy-winning composer Michael Patterson’s works in recital. In 2023, Anh Nguyen was invited to judge the Accord Concerto Competition in Washington, DC. In 2024, Anh Nguyen collaborated with clarinetist Julian Milkis to perform works by contemporary composers Giya Kancheli, Arvo Part, and Cuong Hoang.

Anh Nguyen is also a Thermal Engineer, Founder of Neo Academy in Washington, D.C., and Director of Music at St. Stephen’s Church in Maryland.
