Anthony Kandilaroff is a Junior at Southeast Missouri State University, pursuing the Bachelor’s degree in Flute Performance with Professor Paul Thompson. He has won numerous competitions, including the Flute Society of Saint Louis Young Artist Competition, the University City Symphony Concerto Competition and the Southeast Missouri State University Concerto Competition. Recently he won the MTNA Woodwind State Competition and was runner-up at the regional level.
Anthony is principal flute with the Southeast Missouri Symphony Orchestra and Wind Symphony, and has also performed with the Saint Louis Youth Orchestra, the Missouri All-State Orchestra, and was selected to play first chair with the Missouri All-Collegiate Band. Additionally, he has recently appeared with the Southern Illinois University Orchestra, the Southeast Percussion Ensemble and Southeast Opera. In 2019, he won the Southeast Music Department Outstanding Woodwind Award, and in April 2021 he will perform a concerto by Southeast faculty Dr. Robert Fruehwald with the Southeast Missouri Symphony.
When not making music, Anthony enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and enjoying life’s adventures. He plans to attend graduate school and hopes to one day to play in a professional orchestra.
