Arianne Kim

Arianne first became involved with music when she was 5 playing the violin and piano. Two years later, she decided to quit because she didn’t like the sound of the violin. After hearing her friend’s older brother play the cello, she fell in love with the instrument. Since then cello has been a passion for her. Arianne is a member of the Okemos Philharmonic Orchestra, Okemos Chamber Orchestra, Mid-Michigan Youth Symphony (MMYS), and the Suzuki Cello Group Class. She has also participated in competitions. She has gotten 3rd and honorable mention in the Michigan Music Teachers Association Concerto Competition, 2nd in the 21st Century Talents Strings Competition, 1st in the Lansing Matinee Musicale Junior String Award and the Patricia Smith Senior String Award, as well as getting first division ratings for Solo and Ensemble both as a solo and with her quartet. She has also won the MMYS Concerto Competition. Other than competitions, she also participated in the Lansing Symphony Side-by-Side concert and participated in the MSBOA All-State Orchestra for four years as well as being a finalist in the Outstanding Soloist and Ensemble Competition. Arianne has also attended music camps such as Interlochen and Blue Lake. She would like to thank all of her private teachers Jinhyun Kim, Marilyn Kesler, and Amir Eldan who have helped her improve all of these years.
