Arthur John Gavin Scott

Arthur Scott (7) studies piano with Irina Elkina, violin with Lucinda Marvin, and composition with Sarah Miller at MacPhail Center for Music. Arthur also participates in Minnesota Youth Symphonies and House of Hope Choir School. In the spring of 2022, Arthur was awarded the prestigious Gary Sipes merit scholarship (piano) at MacPhail. In the fall of 2022, Arthur won first prizes in the International Great Composers Competition: Art of Strings (violin), and Best of Kabalevsky (piano), and the Mary West Solo Competition (violin). In winter of 2023 Arthur won first prizes in the Glory International Piano Competition, Great Composers Competition: Best of Mozart (piano), King’s Peak International Competition for both piano and violin divisions, the International Moscow Music Competition for both piano and violin divisions, and the International Online Piano Competition. Arthur won third prize for piano in the American Virtuoso International Music Competition and received an invitation to play at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall. Arthur won first place in the American Protege International Concerto Competition for piano and will play at Weill Recital Hall in 2023. Arthur also won first prize in the Minnesota Music Teacher Association Composition Competition and second place in the Junior Composers National Competition. He has had several instrumental compositions premiered at MacPhail, and his choir premiered a choral introit. In addition to music, Arthur loves reading, making movies, and classic muscle cars.
