
Asa Miller is a sophomore at Edgemont Jr./Sr. High School in Scarsdale, New York. He is a coral reef restoration specialist, diver, and filmmaker of international renown, particularly for his work and research in his homeland Cuba. It was only recently, however, that Asa began to explore the world of piano competitions. He studies at the Hoff-Barthelson Music School in Scarsdale, NY, under Maxim Pakhomov of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory. Asa participates in Hoff-Barthelson’s Chamber Music Program, playing piano in a trio with two violins under conductor Michael Finckel of Vermont’s Sage City Symphony, and a quartet of pianists under conductor Tomoko Uchino of The Julliard School. Since age eight, Asa has received top scores in piano evaluations by the New York State School Music Association. He plays lacrosse year-round, starting at attack for his high school’s varsity team, his club team True Lacrosse Westchester, and Israel’s national U-18 team. Asa has a Bluetick Coonhound named Luna and a Southern painted turtle named Turtle.
