Asia Foland is a 17-year-old cellist from Massachusetts who began playing at age 8, currently studying with Susanne Friedrich. She currently plays with the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra under Federico Cortese and was selected for the 4th chair in the 2024 Massachusetts All-State Orchestra. Asia earned a spot in the competitive Interlochen Cello Intensive Program for Summer 2024. She served as principal cellist of the Rivers Conservatory Youth Symphony and was a finalist in The Richter String Competition. She was selected to be a cellist with the NEC Summer Orchestra. In addition to cello, Asia studies piano and is involved in community music outreach as the Regional Director of The Back to Bach Project and through community performances with Continuo Music.
