Athena Konidaris

I have been playing flute for 9 years. My family is very musical: my grandmother played the French horn and piano, my grandfather played trombone and was a music educator, and my dad played the clarinet. The one family member I looked up to a lot was my mom who also plays the flute, she was my original inspiration to choose the flute. As I began advancing in my flute studies, I have been given the opportunity to attend and participate in many musical events such as the Westmorland Youth Philharmonic and Philharmonia playing both flute and piccolo, three years in the Seton Hill Youth Honors Band, Penn State Honors Music Institute Week, PMEA County Band, PMEA District Band, PMEA Honors Band, Slippery Rock University High School Honors Flute Ensemble, Macy’s Great American Marching Band, West Virginia Flute Weekend, The Consummate Flutist Week at Carnegie Mellon, Mid-Atlantic High School Flute Choir, and the National Flute Association Convention. Also, I had the honor to receive the Emery C Toth Jr Memorial Music Scholarship. As I begin my journey into my music career in college, I would enjoy to share my passion of music to others who want to purser a music future.
