
Audrey Chin is a fifteen year old, 10th grade student at Palos Verdes Peninsula High School. She started her piano journey at age 5 with Ms. Grace Han from Colburn School. Since June 2015, Audrey has been studying with Dr. Linda Govel.
At Ridgecrest Intermediate School, Audrey was a pianist and percussionist in Advanced Orchestra for her 6th, 7th, and 8th grade years. She also participated in SCSBOA as a pianist in 2021.
Under Dr. Govel’s professional guidance and enthusiastic encouragement, Audrey has successfully completed multiple Royal Conservatory of Music levels and received First Class Honors with Distinction awards for her outstanding performance. She is currently working on RCM Level 9 Practical and Theory Exams. Audrey has won a Regional Gold Medal as well as a National Gold Medal from the Royal Conservatory of Music, and she was invited to perform at Celebration of Excellence recital at both USC and world-renowned Carnegie Hall in 2023. Audrey also successfully passed her MTAC Certificate of Merit exams from Level 1 to Advanced with “Excellent” ratings, achieved State Honor awards, and was selected to perform at both MTAC Conventions and Branch Honors Recital.
Audrey was also a pianist and percussionist for David Benoit’s Asian American Youth Symphony for two years and won the Sakaguchi Youth Musician Scholarship in 2022. In the Southern California Junior Bach Festival, Audrey has won both Branch and Regional levels. This past September, she won First Place in the Clavier Concerti Category and went on to perform with a string quartet at the awards concert in Covenant Presbyterian Church. She was also awarded Honorable Mention in the 2022 South Bay Branch Scholarship Audition.
Throughout the years, Audrey has competed and won numerous awards from SYMF, CAPMT Piano Ensemble, Sonata/Sonatina Festival, and she also achieved the highest ranking of “Top Talent” for National Piano Guild Audition. Additionally, Audrey volunteers at Torrance Memorial Medical Center by playing piano for patients for an hour each week. She is also the Treasurer at Music Student Service League South Bay Branch and participates in the monthly recitals. Arjun & Friends is another group she’s a part of that goes to play piano in local senior homes throughout the year. Audrey loves to play for the elderly as they are always so excited to listen to the music and it gives them something positive to enjoy.
