Audrey Lam Kei Sung

Audrey Sung was born in Vancouver, Canada in 2010. She is currently a freshman at the Crofton House School. Audrey began her first piano lessons at the age of six and has been under the tutelage of Mr. Edward Han Jiang, Dr. Jacqueline Bei-Hua Tang, Ms. Eleanor Wong, Maestro Liu Shi Kun and Maestro Vladimir Viardo. Audrey’s musical talent and passion has brought her numerous competition prizes, both nationally and internationally, as well as many opportunities to perform as a guest artist at important music festivals and events.
 In 2017, one year after beginning piano study, Audrey won second prize at the 4th Hong Kong Asia-Pacific Youth Piano Competition and first prize for the Hong Kong Children & Youth Piano Contest.
 In 2018, Audrey, at the age of eight and after only two years of playing the piano, held her first recital in Xiamen with a full hall of over a thousand audience members. The concert attracted a great deal of local media attention and reviews. The same year, she participated again in the 5th Hong Kong Asia-Pacific Youth Piano Competition and the Hong Kong Children & Youth Piano Contest, where she received first prize for both competitions.
 In 2019, Audrey received the first prize at the Pacific Rim Music International Festival in Beijing and was invited to perform a recital at the Weill Hall of Carnegie Hall in New York. In addition, she received the grand prize, the “Tchaikovsky Memorial Prize”, at the International Tchaikovsky Youth Piano Competition in Shanghai in the Children’s category, which allowed her to be the youngest pianist to play a full recital as the winner of the competition. Audrey’s winner’s recital not only drew the media’s attention again, but also received an invitation to be an ambassador for the Shanghai International Children & Youth music week. Audrey was also invited to perform at the Shanghai Oriental Musical Art Center as an ambassador.
 In August of 2020, Audrey was appointed to be the “International Gold prize Children’s ambassador” for the Sound over the Cloud International Piano Competition during the COVID epidemic.
 In July of 2021, Audrey was invited to be guest pianist to perform in front of an audience of a thousand at the celebratory event in Hong Kong, the “Concert in Honor of the Greatest Women in Chinese History” of the past hundred years. She also received the first prize and audience prize at the “The Star of the American Union” young artist New Year’s concert in Shanghai, which resulted in an invitation to participate in the Liszt International Youth Piano Competition, though it was not held due to the pandemic.
 In September of 2022, Audrey was invited by both the Royal Conservatory of Music in Canada and the Pacific Rim Music Society to perform a charity concert in Vancouver, which received high praise from professional musicians and was also featured on Canadian television and other different local medias. She was also a guest artist for the China-UK Music Exchange Week, where many important UK and international politicians were present and offered high praise.
 In April 2023, China Central Television (CCTV) livestreamed a recital by Audrey in the He Luting Recital Hall at the Shanghai Conservatory. In July, Audrey performed with orchestra in Taipei, Taiwan as part of the Taipei International Piano Festival / Tomorrow’s Star Concert Evening and also at the Cross-Strait International Youth Piano Festival. The Artistic director and Head of Keyboard studies at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, Professor Dan-Wen Wei, who conducted Audrey’s concerto appearance in the Cross-Strait Festival, spoke highly about her performance.
 The year of 2024 has been an important year and marks another milestone for Audrey’s musical journey. She was invited by the Rijnlands Lyceum Oegstgeest to perform a charity concert at the Kasteel Duivenvoorde on July 5th, which raised 15,000 euros for Local-Heroes Netherlands, a school project in Kenya. Her performance and charity event received widespread acclaim from music professionals and philanthropists and was extensively covered by the local mainstream media. Audrey was invited to the 19th Vienna International Music Festival, where she played a recital and gave a concerto performance at the most prestigious Musikverein in Vienna, Austria. Both performances received enthusiastic praise from the audiences and she became a sought-after young artist for the local media. Her performance in Vienna was hailed by the media as an uncommon success.
As a dedicated young philanthropist, at the age of ten, while studying at the Harrow International School Hong Kong, she showed courage to join the school’s team to fight against COVID-19. She not only actively participated in distributing supplies in the community, but also donated her charity funds to support pandemic organizations. Audrey was described as “the youngest pandemic star” by the prominent Hong Kong media. She has also donated her time to give piano instruction to orphans and the elderly and to perform charity concerts yearly at orphanages and retirement homes under the supervision of her teachers. Audrey’s charity activities also makes a meaningful impact on her birthplace, Vancouver. On September 21, 2022, she donated all her income from her past performances to the Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters Foundation in Canada, and to two other educational institutions. This action has attracted significant attention from various Canadian media, such as CTV National, CTV Vancouver, and Phoenix TV America, with detailed coverage of her contributions. These philanthropic efforts also earned Audrey recognition as an Outstanding Young Volunteer by the Hong Kong government’s Volunteer Development Department.
Audrey is an emerging young artist who has been continuously featured in coverage by the Chinese media, including the well-known Southern China Newspaper in Hong Kong.
1. She broke the record for the youngest performer to play a full recital at Xiamen in the biggest concert hall.
2. She attained the diploma ABRSM, affiliated with the Royal College of Music, at the age of twelve, becoming the youngest person in Hong Kong to receive such an honor.
3. Her audiences of over a thousand people at several of her concerts in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Xiamen set another record among Audrey’s peers.
