Ayman Bourar

Ayman Bourar

French American cellist Ayman Bourar (b. 2012) began playing the cello when he was six years old, two years after starting on the piano. He’s studied the cello with Andrew Rammon and the piano with Dorothy Chan.

Ayman performs in national and international competitions, including Worldvision, the Odin International Music Competition, the Gustav Mahler Prize Cello Competition, Art Rogaska, the Crescendo International Competition, the Feder String Competition, the Misbin Family Memorial Chamber Music Competition and the Radda Rise International String Competition. These accomplishments have won him invitations to perform at Carnegie Hall, the DiMenna Center and in Slovenia.

As an orchestral and collaborative cellist, Ayman has performed in the DC Youth Orchestra Program’s (DCYOP) second most advanced ensemble and in a select chamber ensemble comprised of advanced students. He’s also had stints at other local youth orchestras, such as Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras (MCYO) and the National Philharmonic Junior Summer Institute ensemble.

Outside of these programs, Ayman enjoys playing chamber music with his friends. In 2021, he participated in Point CounterPoint’s Prelude chamber music program. He participated in Musicalta’s summer academy in Alsace, France in 2022.

Ayman also likes to swim, bike, ski, go on nature hikes, draw and read.
