Carmine Catalano

Carmine Catalano was born on 10th October 1995 in Benevento (Italy). In 2006 he started to play the classical guitar under the guidance of Silvia Cavalli. In 2017, he obtained summa cum laude his master’s degree in classical guitar performance from the “Nicola Sala” State Conservatory of Music (class of Prof. Paolo Lambiase, additional lessons with Prof. Christian Saggese). After graduation, he attended the training course in music pedagogy and didactics at the same conservatory, which he completed with the highest grade.

In the following years he trained under Prof. Eliot Fisk at the University Mozarteum Salzburg and at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, where he was awarded the Diploma di merito. He attended master classes and seminars with Lorenzo Micheli, Zaira Meneses, Pavel Steidl, Carlo Marchione, Jerome Mouffe, Bruce Holzman, Benjamin Verdery, Carles Trepat, Giampaolo Bandini, Mario Fragnito, Duo Lambiase-Viti, Giulio Tampalini, Douglas James, Antoinette Perry among others.

He also holds a master’s deegre in law (with distinction) from the University of Sannio, and is currently studying instrumental music pedagogy at the University Mozarteum Innsbruck and at the Tiroler Landeskonservatorium.

Since 2020 he leads a classical guitar class as full-time instructor at Tiroler Musikschulwerk, the tyrolean regional music schools.

Lately he started participating in music competitions. Recent awards include 2nd prize in the 1st Caneres International Music Competition Vienna, Gold Prize and Special Prize for excellent technique at Manchester International Music Competition 2022, Gold Prize at Franz Schubert International Music Competition 2022.
