Chi Ting

Chi Ting

Chi Ting is a flutist from Taiwan, currently pursuing her Master’s degree in music at Rice University, studying with Leone Buyse. She received her Bachelor’s degree in music from the Colburn Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Jim Walker.
With a deep passion for chamber music, Chi has played a variety of chamber music with friends, such as piano trios and woodwind quintets to duets with clarinet, harp and oboe. Along with her musical pursuits, Chi also volunteers her time to spread the joy of music to community.
Chi has received awards in various competitions. She won first prize in the National Taiwan Chamber Music Competition and represented Taiwan at the Asia Flutists Federation congress in South Korea, Japan, and the US with the Golden Flute Choir. Chi has also placed second in both the San Diego Flute Guild Young Artist Competition and the Pasadena Showcase Instrumental Competition. She was a semifinalist in the Biwako International Flute Competition and a finalist at the 2015 Taiwan Flute Competition.
In 2018, Chi performed as a soloist with the Brevard Music Center Orchestra, as one of the winners of the Jan and Beattie Wood Concerto Competition. In 2019, she played the Amy Beach Quintet with Quatuor Cobalt at Domain Forget, and in 2020, she served as a substitute flutist with the Taiwan Philharmonic.
